“Emaar will be in Southern Europe very soon”
Chatting with Ahmad Saeed Alfalasi, Hhead of Commercial of the important real estate company from UAE
(Dubai). Read Emaar and think of Dubai. The largest real estate company in the United Arab Emirates is also the one who actually built Dubai. The landscape of the emirate, in fact, draws the shapes that this company, born in 1997 – initially entirely owned by the Dubai government – has created from scratch: the Burj Khalifa – the tallest tower in the world – the Dubai Mall, the largest shopping center existing today, and countless palaces and buildings of high aesthetic impact, are a real show for those who come across them every time. Ahmad Saeed Alfalasi, Head of Commercial of the company, present at Expo Dubai 2020 at an event organized by the Italian Pavilion and Inarcassa called “Urban Renaissence”, explains where Emaar’s success comes from. “About 15 years ago it didn’t exist and this makes us very proud – begins Alfalasi – Right from the start we put passion, attention to detail, commitment: we wanted to create something that the world had not yet seen”. Walking and moving around Dubai, the impression is that the one built by Emaar is a real empire. But how does a company that carries out such a business intercept the signals that the international community is starting to request as sustainability and the fight against CO2 emissions? “We always take into consideration the fact that a country without a past is a country without a future – explains the 32-year-old manager of Emaar – It means that we respect the environment that surrounds us very much as did the communities that populated the desert centuries ago, moving with animals and cultivating plants, always respecting the environmental context. Every time we design a project, we think about the impact that this can have, in aesthetic terms, of course, but also on the environment. Think of the Dubai Mall, where there are areas dedicated to the environmental education of children, such as the aquarium, which teaches respect for the oceans “. Emaar started its international expansion, with projects in the rest of the Middle East and North Africa: “We are always open to investors and opportunities abroad, in Europe we have been focusing on the eastern region and recently on the southern one. I still can’t say where we will be present in Italy, but it will happen soon.
